Professional floristry competition at Chelsea 2009
5 November 2008
A new professional floristry competition is being launched at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2009. The new competition, in association with the British Florist Association, takes place at the show in May and culminates in the announcement of the ‘Chelsea Florist of the Year’ and the ‘Young Chelsea Florist of the Year’.
Competitors, within both under-25 and over-25 categories, will be asked to design a floral exhibit to be judged at the show for a coveted RHS medal. The overall winners, displaying the highest standards of floral design, will be awarded the prestigious titles.
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show showcases some of the very best in professional retail floristry, and this competition allows adult and young florists the chance to demonstrate their skills among the best talent in the horticultural industry.
Entry to the competition is open to any working florist or owning a retail florist shop, or who is a student or tutor at an approved and recognised floristry school or college. Qualifying heats will be held at the BFA Hub Meetings, and the highest scoring entries from each category will qualify for a place at the show.
Applications for entry into the competition must be made via an FBA Hub meeting. For further details of the competition and FBA Hub meetings, visit the British Florist Association website.
