The Thai Floating Market
This year, for the first time at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, the Tourism Authority of Thailand has recreated a traditional Thai floating Market on the Long Water between pontoons 3 and 4.
This fantastic spectacle brings a blaze of Asian colour to the show. Thai people in traditional costume are skilfully manoeuvring boats laden with fruit, vegetables, spices and Thai produce through the water. Alongside on the banks of the Long Water, you can purchase a selection of authentic Thai goods that you might find on the waterways of Bangkok, such as fans, carved soap and hand-painted umbrellas. There are demonstrations of intricate painting and soap carving to complement this exciting and exotic new feature.
To celebrate the Thai Floating Market at this year’s show, the Thai Square restaurant group is demonstrating delicious Thai recipes on the Growing Tastes Cookery Theatre.
