Help us secure a healthy future for gardening

For every £1 received from members' subscriptions, we need to raise more than twice as much again to fund our charitable activities.

With your support we can continue to maintain and grow our gardens for you to enjoy. We can continue to share our passion for plants and inspire all those with an interest in gardening and we can develop and pass on our knowledge and experience to every gardener.

Donations play a vital role in supporting the charitable work of the RHS including:

  • Scientific and horticultural research, helping to tackle the many issues faced by gardeners today, such as pests and diseases, finding the best plant for different conditions and how to garden with the environment in mind. Knowledge and expert advice that we pass onto gardeners through our members’ advisory service.
  • Our goal to bring gardening to the lives of all UK children and to educate and inspire a new generation of gardeners. The Campaign for School Gardening wants to encourage and help all schools to get gardening.
  • Promoting excellence in horticulture in public spaces and encouraging community gardening through organising initiatives such as Britain in Bloom, which encourages local communities to breathe life into their local green spaces.
  • Maintaining the Lindley Library - the finest horticultural library in the world, open to all. An essential reference for garden history, gardens and horticulture, with books dating from 1514 to the very latest publications.
  • Promoting biodiversity and creating wildlife habitats at our gardens. Gardens give wildlife refuge from the impacts of habitat loss and climate change. We pass on the knowledge we gain through sound sustainable gardening techniques to gardeners, in order to protect our environment long term.

We often need additional funding for specific projects, developments such as the spectacular Glasshouse at RHS Garden Wisley, to which members and supporters contributed more than £1.5 million.
